It is reported that the student and the middle aged man engaged in a bitter exchange before drawing a knife and stabbing the victim to death.

The assailant then flee the scene of the country, leaving him gasping for breath on the floor.

Revelers who were baying for the assailant's blood were unable to catch up with him.

The victim was pronounced dead on arrival at Kitengela sub-county hospital, just a few kilometres away from where the incident happened.

"The OCS Kitengela, his team and DCI personnel in Kitengela rushed to the hospital. The body of the deceased had a single stab wound on the back right-hand side," read part of the police OB 103/09/11/2022.

Eye witnesses who recorded statements narrated that they heard the assailant raise concerns over the student's affair with his girlfriend who worked at the joint as a waitress.

"He warned him before a confrontation ensued and he stabbed him once inside the pub," an eye witness recounted.

Another eyewitness recalled seeing the assailant with a knife and a sword, one of which was used to kill the student.

Kitengela police and medical officers highly suspect it's the knife that was used to stab the student.

Police have since recovered a knife which is suspected to have been the murder weapon.

"The deceased mobile phone which has been recovered by detectives indicated he was in constant communication with the barmaid," police affirmed.

Kitengela police officers announced a major operation to weed out criminal elements from the town.
