Kenyan content creator Kelvin Kinuthia has stirred fresh debate online after speaking openly about plans for cosmetic surgery during a televised interview that quickly spread across social media.
Kinuthia, known for his bold fashion choices and highly stylised online persona, appeared on the Oga Obinna Show, where he spoke about future body modifications he hopes to undergo once he can afford them.
He said he would like to change parts of his body, including adding curves and undergoing a tummy tuck.
“Nitaweka majegi na kuongeza hips nikipata pesa, twenye niko nazo ni tudogo,” he said in Swahili. “Mimi si mwanaume.”
Translated loosely, he suggested that he intends to enhance his hips and reshape his body when financially able, while also questioning how people perceive his identity.
“Who told you I’m a man? I need to change that perception,” he added. “Nikipata pesa I’ll do a tummy tuck na niongeze hips.”
The remarks quickly spread across platforms including TikTok and X, where users reacted with a mix of humour, surprise and criticism.
Some users joked about the potential outcome of the procedures. Others questioned the broader conversation around gender expression and identity in online spaces. Many of the comments reflected how Kinuthia has long occupied a controversial but visible place in Kenya’s influencer culture.
A Familiar Pattern of Reinvention
During the same interview, Kinuthia also addressed his frequent changes of residence, another topic that has long drawn curiosity from followers.
He said moving homes often feels tied to personal renewal.
“Moving into a new house comes with blessings,” he said.
He added that he does not follow a fixed timeline when relocating.
“I don’t plan it. I just move when I feel like it,” he said.
Kinuthia said he had been in his current house since October last year but was already considering another move.
“What I want, I get,” he said with a laugh. When pressed on the reason, he replied simply: “Because I want to.”
Online Fame and Public Scrutiny
Kinuthia’s comments highlight the tightrope walked by many young digital creators in Kenya, where personal identity, performance and public expectation often collide in real time.
He has built a large following through stylised videos and fashion content that challenge conventional ideas of masculinity and presentation. That visibility has also brought constant scrutiny, with every new statement or appearance drawing wide public reaction.
