Two men have been charged before the Milimani Law Courts over an alleged scheme to obtain 2,383 bags of Kenya Arabica coffee valued at KSh115 million through false pretences.
Peter Kimathi Kinyua and Kibet Torut were jointly charged with obtaining goods by false pretences, contrary to Section 313 of the Penal Code.
The court was told that on diverse dates between January 1 and January 24, 2024, in Nairobi, the two, jointly with another person already before the court, allegedly obtained the coffee from Peter Githinji Njuki.
The prosecution alleges that the accused falsely represented that they had a genuine coffee supply contract between Servicoff Limited and Gilley Investment Limited.
According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly knew the representation to be false and used it to obtain the coffee.
Kinyua and Torut appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Irene Thamara, who released each of them on a bond of KSh700,000 or an alternative cash bail of KSh350,000.

The case will be mentioned on September 8, 2026.
