In Narok County, the Kenya Red Cross has initiated a search and rescue operation as floodwaters engulf over 14 tourist camps, leaving visitors stranded.

The humanitarian organization reported that the flooding was caused by the overflow of the Talek River, and so far, they have successfully rescued 61 individuals.

"Efforts are underway to locate and rescue tourists trapped in more than 14 tourist camps along Talek in Narok, following the river's overflow," stated the organization in a social media update.

"Working alongside the National and County Government of Narok, the Mara Elephant Project, and local communities, we have airlifted 36 individuals to safety and retrieved another 25 with our aqua rescue team."

Furthermore, the Red Cross highlighted the severity of the situation: "In some camps, tents have been swept away, and the Mara Bridge, connecting the Mara Triangle and the Greater Mara, has been destroyed."
