On Wednesday, May 8, the Azimio Coalition issued a stern ultimatum, giving the Kenya Kwanza government 48 hours to resolve the ongoing doctors' strike.

Kalonzo Musyoka, a principal of Azimio, addressed the press in Nairobi, urging the government to seize the 48-hour window granted by the courts and swiftly reach an agreement with the doctors to end the strike.

"If the government fails to meet our demands within this timeframe, Azimio will mobilize Kenyans for nationwide demonstrations," Kalonzo declared.

The coalition highlighted the lack of commitment from the government to address the doctors' grievances, despite efforts from the medical professionals to end the strike.

In addition to the healthcare crisis, Azimio demanded that the government declare the floods a national disaster and allocate a revised sum of Ksh7 billion to assist affected families, accusing the government of inadequate response and forced evictions without providing alternative shelter.

The opposition condemned the government's handling of the floods, citing tragic incidents like the death of a young boy in Mathare, Nairobi, who was killed during a forced eviction.

"In light of this tragedy, we demand that the government implement protective measures, including early warnings and facilitating the relocation of communities at risk of flood devastation," a statement from Azimio read.

Furthermore, the coalition called for the expedited impeachment of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, alleging mismanagement and supply of counterfeit fertilizer to Kenyan farmers.

Azimio also demanded an immediate investigation into the death of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla, underscoring the need for transparency and accountability in government affairs.
