As protests against the government led by the Azimio coalition take place across the country, Wednesday, July 19, witnesses empty streets, closed businesses, and little activity in various parts of Kenya.
Kenyans have been expressing their dissatisfaction with the high cost of living, leading to widespread complaints and demonstrations. In Nakuru, police had to use tear gas to disperse a group of protesters in Sharable estate who were preparing to take to the streets.
In Kisii, typically bustling streets were relatively empty, but a heavy police presence was observed. Meanwhile, in Migori County, two individuals were reportedly hospitalized at Oruba Nursing Home after being shot with rubber bullets during the morning protests.
These developments reflect the growing frustration among Kenyans, who are demanding government action to address the rising cost of living. The protests serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by citizens and the urgency for solutions to alleviate the economic hardships many are experiencing.
