Rita Tinina's Farewell: Final Journey Commences in Black Range Rover

The poignant final journey of esteemed journalist Rita Tinina commenced on Wednesday morning, shortly after 7 am.

In a solemn gathering, family and friends congregated at Umash Funeral Home to accompany Tinina's body to its final resting place in Narok.

Prior to departure, loved ones had the opportunity to bid farewell and pay their respects to Tinina one last time.

NTV journalist and chairman of Rita Tinina's burial committee, Duncan Khaemba, disclosed that Tinina's friends had arranged for a special tribute, hiring a black Range Rover hearse to transport her remains from the mortuary to her home.

"Rita's Girls Club (Judy, QZ, Njambi, and Njeri) had planned a road trip with Rita during her leave. They requested to honor that plan by accompanying Rita on her final journey," Khaemba revealed.

True to their promise, members of Tinina's Girls Club escorted their beloved friend in the black Range Rover, adorned with a striking v-shaped wreath of red, white, green, and purple flowers.

Inside the hearse, Tinina's casket was adorned with elegant red roses and draped with a delicate white lace cloth, while a poster on the back windshield bore the inscription, "Rita Tinina, forever in our hearts."

As the hearse set off, its sides gracefully opened, resembling a bird spreading its wings in flight, symbolizing Tinina's peaceful transition.

As per the funeral program, the procession is scheduled to arrive in Olokirikirai at 9 am, with official proceedings commencing at 10 am, including prayers and speeches from family representatives, colleagues from Nation Media Group, Standard, and Royal Media Services, as well as government officials, clergy, political leaders, and friends.

A mass will then be held at noon to honor the life and legacy of Tinina, a dedicated journalist and cherished mother to Mia Malaikah, and partner to Robert Nagila.

Tinina was tragically discovered deceased in her Kileleshwa residence on Sunday, March 17, leaving behind a profound impact on her community and loved ones.
