The Public Service Commission (PSC) unveiled its assessment of Kenya's top-performing public institutions for the Financial Year 2022/2023 on Tuesday, March 5.
In total, 523 public organizations were evaluated based on their adherence to national values, principles of governance, and public service standards.
Among the standout performers were the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examination Board (KASNEB), both securing positions in the top 10.
Leading the pack, KASNEB emerged as the best-performing institution, with the National Environment Trust Fund (NETFUND) and Kibabii University following closely in second and third place, respectively.
Other notable institutions included the Capital Market Authority (CMA), Kenya Trade Network Agency (KENTRADE), Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAs), Commodities Fund, Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF), and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
These top ten entities showcased remarkable advancements in service delivery, upheld high standards of professional ethics, and demonstrated principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability.
Moreover, KRA and its counterparts excelled in performance management, ensuring equitable resource allocation, and actively engaging the public in policy formulation.
The assessment criteria encompassed efficiency, effectiveness, prudent resource utilization, sustainable development practices, and the promotion of devolution and decentralization in public services.
The PSC emphasized the importance of adhering to the constitutional provisions outlined in Articles 10 and 232, which advocate for national values, governance principles, professional ethics, and the responsible use of resources within public institutions.
