In a historic event, a couple had the honor of tying the knot in the presence of President William Ruto during the launch of government digital services. The wedding ceremony took place at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) and showcased the convenience of online marriage services provided by the Office of the Attorney General.
Supervised by Loice, the Deputy Registrar in the Attorney General's office, Mr. Justin Muturi, the civil marriage ceremony was a momentous occasion for the groom, Nicholas, and the bride, Judith. The entire nation had the opportunity to witness the event as it was televised live, and two witnesses, Benson and Cecilia, were present to attest to the marriage.
The couple had applied online for their marriage about two months prior and were guided through the wedding process by the registrar. Following the exchange of vows, Loice announced the legal implications of their union, emphasizing the commitment of monogamy and the consequences of contracting another marriage while this one remains valid.
As the couple made their heartfelt vows and exchanged rings, President Ruto and other government officials wore smiles of joy and followed the proceedings with keen interest. The registrar pronounced Nicholas and Judith as husband and wife under the Marriage Act, and they sealed their union with a kiss before signing the marriage agreement.
With their marriage certificate in hand, the couple received congratulations from the President himself. As an additional surprise, the government announced that Nicholas and Judith would be sponsored for a four-night honeymoon at the luxurious Leopard Beach Resort in Diani. They would also be chauffeured to the resort in a Limousine. The couple received gifts from the guests, making their special day even more memorable.
This e-wedding, witnessed by the nation and graced by President Ruto, marked a significant milestone in the advancement of digital services and showcased the convenience and efficiency of online marriage registration in Kenya.
