Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has claimed that unknown assailants abducted his son and 19-year-old brother-in-law at gunpoint. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday night, and the two were allegedly tortured for six hours in an attempt to extract information about Malala's whereabouts.
The former Kakamega Senator explained that the abductors wanted to locate him or his wife and pressured his family members to reveal the location of his Kitengela residence. After the abductors failed to trace him, they abandoned the two along Thika Road.
"They were tortured for six hours to disclose my whereabouts or that of my wife and to show them the way to my residence in Kitengela," Malala said. "After failing to find me or my spouse at home, they dumped the two along Thika Road. I have picked them up safe, but they are traumatised and shaken."
The abduction comes just two days after Malala made explosive claims accusing two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma, of plotting to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Malala warned that such a motion could lead to broader political repercussions, including the eventual ouster of President William Ruto.
Speaking at a church service in Thika, Malala stated, “The MPs being fronted to table the impeachment motion against Gachagua are Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma. I’m telling you, Mr President, those MPs will start by impeaching Gachagua, and then they will turn against you in 2027."
His allegations were supported by Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who claimed that some individuals within the political landscape were working to undermine Gachagua and warned of possible consequences for President Ruto's administration.
